Sicilian fabrics

Located at the foot of Mount Etna, Palazzo Previtera is pleased to present a new textile collection inspired by the interiors of Sicily and the ancient palace of our family. This is the legacy of our family and we would like to share it with all of you. Magdalena Mangani Gualtieri and her husband, Judge Gaetano Previtera, began experimenting with fabrics, turning the silk from their mulberry trees into fabrics in the 18th century.

We have created fabrics in pastel colors inspired by the wallpaper and original fabrics of our Palace. The fabrics showcase the innovation of Sicilian interior design, bringing the warmest spirit of Sicilian hospitality into your home.

Timeline and Products

We work with the best materials to bring you the essence of Sicily to your home. We offer fabrics made of 60% linen and 40% cotton, following the principle of sustainability. We collaborate with Busatti, an Italian company leading in the textile sector in Tuscany, the land of Leonardo Da Vinci, the Italian genius of creativity and craftsmanship. Our fabrics are simple but aim to represent the synthesis of complex patterns such as brocade, damask, and Sicilian 19th-century matelassé, inspired by the interiors of Palazzo Previtera.

Fabric heritage to be passed down from generation to generation

A family story, the art of embroidery in Sicily, and the pleasure of setting the table with friends. The fabrics of Palazzo Previtera want to make those around us feel good, a journey into Sicily waiting to be discovered.

Mulberry silk is a special type of silk obtained from silkworms that are exclusively fed with mulberry tree leaves, the finest quality silk on the market. Since the 16th century, the city of Messina became an important international trading center for fabrics, ships loaded with Sicilian fabrics sailed to important ports such as Livorno, Genoa, Marseille, and finally reached the cities of Lyon and London. In 1740, the family of Magdalena Previtera Mangani Gualtieri, originally from Acireale, was already extracting silk from the cocoons on the ground floor of our Palazzo.
